Is Minced Garlic in A Jar as Good?

When you compare jarred garlic vs fresh garlic to have knowledge which one is better? Each type has its pros and cons but I would say fresh garlic wins the contest.

Minced garlic Jarred:

Provides easiness in the preparation of food. As it is already chopped up & ready to cook within every kind of food so easily. It also will last for a much longer time than a fresh bulb of garlic bought from store. The processing done for maintenance for the garlic does take away some of the natural flavor from the garlic.

Pros:

  • It is Convenient, which means ready to cook or use instantly in food
  • Lasts for a longer period of time ranges from unopened – 2 years, opened 12 – 18 months on an average

Cons

  • Processed garlic could contain preservatives that could be fatal to your health
  • Benefits Minced Only garlic

Fresh garlic:

Fresh garlic requires a lot more preparation steps as compared to minced garlic. You need to peel the garlic first and then analyze how you want to cut it for better taste with convenience. Also, it required to use as much soon as possible because its taste and quality can go worse. Although, a fresh garlic bulb if it is unpeeled, can last for up to minimum 6 months of time span.

Pros:

  • Its taste is much better and fresh than minced garlic
  • It is actually non-processed which means free from conservatives
  • It can be prepared in any way like minced, chopped, crushed and whole cloves

Cons

  • It requires preparation steps to follow like peeling, cleaning, chopping for further use
  • It does not last as long, especially once it is peeled

Have you ever drive out the time from normal routine to peel the garlic before using a press?

You might had thought it’s just a waste of time, after peeling the garlic to then use in a press.

Why not do it with a knife and mince garlic which is the traditional way?

Well, the best thing about using a press is, you don’t have to peel off the garlic for further use.

That’s absolutely right, you don’t have to peel off each clove of garlic at once.

Just keep down the papery clove in the press and watch the fresh garlic squeeze out from the roller tube.

Check that the peel does not come out with pressed garlic.

I personally prefer to peel my garlic before it using for a press.

As some of the portion of garlic does get stuck in the peeling roller.

Also make sure that, no extra peel does end up in the finished garlic put in the jar/roller.

How to Peel Garlic Quickly?

Since I still prefer to peel off my garlic most often.

I like to do it with so much ease and in no time as much it could possible.

Peeling of garlic if done by hand, leaves that great garlic smell on your fingers and hands.

Which appears to linger on the fingers for so long time than it could scientifically possible.

So, the old way is to smash the garlic with a knife first. Breaking the peels grip for easy take-off from garlic.

I think the quickest and minimum messy way is called a peeling tube.

Peeling tube is made out of silicone, its design is very simple and easy to use. So, they are capable of lasting forever.

You can use the roller to peel more than one clove of garlic at one time with much ease.

I can fit up to three rollers at once, making it a fast process for quick done of peeling of garlic.

Repeat this over a trash can done for easy cleaning of garlic.

Place the cloves of garlic inside the roller tube gently.

Keep the tube in between the palms of your hand to have an idea about its working.

Then rub tube between both hands up and down fast for quick done.

Alike, you are rubbing your hands to raise the temperature of tubes.

This process doesn’t take more than a few seconds.

The clove of garlic will come out so perfectly peeled.

Shake off the roller for some more time into a trash can for best outcomes.
